Sony Music Entertainment France, Sony Music Publishing France and Sony CSL become Diamond Sponsor of the AI Song Contest 2022
The AI Song Contest is an international competition exploring the use of AI in the songwriting process. Teams consisting of musicians, researchers, music producers, data scientists, developers – and anyone else interested in the combination of music and AI – collaborate to create a song with AI as a creative partner.
The 3rd edition of the AI Song Contest (AISC) in 2022 is sponsored by three companies of the Sony Group: Sony Music Entertainment France, Sony Music Publishing France and the Sony Computer Science Laboratories (CSL). With these Sony entities, the contest has found a partner that is aligned with the AI Song Contest’s mission - to extend human creativity with the use of AI, and to educate and support musical artists and composers in their creative and career development by leveraging the latest technological advancements. Sony CSL has been creating "human-centric" AI assisted music composing systems like The Piano In-painting Application and NOTONO, which were made available to the teams of the AI Song Contest together with personal support by Sony’s engineers. Furthermore, the AISC and the three Sony entities will provide joint webinars, mentoring to artists and composers, and will support the inaugural AI Song Contest Artist in Residence program. This will enable the further education and support of AI Song Contest participants on a scientific aspect by SONY CSL and on an artistic and career development aspect by Sony Music Publishing France and Sony Music Entertainment France, with touch points throughout the year.
In this partnership the AISC sees a way to promote artistsand composers using AI as a creative instrument and to foster their musical talent and creativity. With more visibility of artists using AI, the AISC aims to demonstrate the creative potential of AI and to encourage a dialogue about human-AI co-creation with the public.
The AISC Award Ceremony will take place in Liège, Belgium, on 6 July 2022 and will be broadcasted online. The winner will be chosen by a jury and a public voting of the top 15 songs starting 16 June 2022.
