Liège 2022
Overview
The 3rd AI Song Contest was held in Liège (Belgium) as part of the “AI and Creation Day” at the Wallifornia Music + Tech Summit in a hybrid format.
Yaboi Hanoi (Thailand) with Enter Demons & Gods was the winning song, combining the points from a public vote and a formal evaluation from an expert jury panel of 30 academics, artists and industry representatives.
PAMP! (Galicia) with AI-LALELO came in second place and was the audience’s favourite entry.
Both the winner and the runner-up share the vindication of minority cultures, with the aim of putting artificial intelligence at the service of language and identity.

Winner
Yaboi Hanoi (Thailand) is a composer, award-winning cultural technologist and audio AI research scientist. His entry อสุระเทวะชุมนุม Enter Demons & Gods is a vibrant bass track co-created with artificial intelligence involving Southeast Asian sounds with instruments like oboe Phi. This original and novel approach shows how AI can empower musical traditions from different, also non-western, cultures.
