About the TEAM
DJ Swami is a pioneering British-Indian music producer, composer, multi-instrumentalist and AI researcher, widely known as a cultural visionary inspiring a diversity of creative music collaborations with future technologies. He is an AI music research specialist with a deep understanding of AI tools and workflows including AI training and fine-tuning models for music catalog, stems and sample libraries, AI metadata tagging music production libraries for sync licensing and AI-based categorisation of sample libraries. Recent AI and VR project collaborations include creating an immersive 360 music showcase with generative AI music compositions. DJ Swami is highly accomplished in musical theory, composition techniques, vocals, harmony, counterpoint, arrangements, a professional musician (guitarist/ DJ/ modular synthesizers/ keyboards/ drums) and musical director for international touring headline projects.
About the SONG
This song is an electronic pop, R&B, trap, and dubstep-inspired exploration of the intricate facets of love in the age of artificial intelligence. The composition features a rich tapestry of elements, including synthesized instruments, female vocal samples, evocative Indian vocal chants, and pulsating basslines. These elements were meticulously crafted by fine-tuning the Dance Diffusion platform, using three unique outputs derived from my personal music sample library.
In contrast to the digital components, the organic essence of this composition is conveyed through live performances of drums, guitar, piano, and my own expressive male vocals 'Synthetic Love' on the chorus. The intricate process of editing, arranging, mixing and mastering was executed in Ableton Live 11, culminating in a sonic journey that encapsulates both the technological future and the raw, human emotions of love.
About the HUMAN-AI PROCESS
Creating this song was a dynamic blend of creativity and technology, with a goal to make the process accessible to everyone, regardless of technical expertise. At its core, the song explored the complexities of love in the context of AI using a combination of AI creative sounds with live performance instruments.
To bring this vision to life, I used a combination of musical elements and AI-driven tools. The song features a mix of electronic pop, R&B, trap, and dubstep genres. I harnessed AI through the Dance Diffusion platform, by tuning a wide selection of samples to the same key. Specifically, we employed three outputs from my music sample library to craft unique synths, female vocal samples mixed with Indian vocal chants, and synth basslines.
The contrast of digital and human elements was pivotal. Drums, guitar, piano, and male vocals were performed live to the arranged Ai elements, infusing the composition with an organic, emotive quality.
Editing, arranging, and mixing were executed using Ableton Live 11 for the flexibility of time-stretching and editing. This software allowed us to refine the intricate balance between the AI-generated components and the human performances.
Iteration was key to shaping the final outcome. I fine-tuned the AI models and adjusted the live instrumentation to ensure they harmonized seamlessly. I wanted the AI to enhance, not overshadow, the emotional depth of the music.
In essence, this song illustrates how technology and artistry can coalesce. It highlights the potential of AI to augment human creativity while emphasizing the importance of balancing technology with the genuine, human experiences that underpin music. The result is a track that resonates on multiple levels, inviting everyone to appreciate the synergy of innovation and emotion.
