About the TEAM
We are all musicians, ”AI specialists” and coffee lovers. Our core team is comprised of research scientists and artists working on generative models for speech and audio at NVIDIA.
About the SONG
Our creative vision was to create an art piece with speech synthesis that leverages things that we can do well with AI that are otherwise hard, if not impossible, for humans. At the same time, we wanted to dialogue with the traditional choir repertoire to highlight how AI can be used to push the boundaries of creative expression.
About the HUMAN-AI PROCESS
We started by sketching a song outline to highlight speech synthesis capabilities in the arts, like singing complex and melting chords and interpolating between speakers and emotions. We produced lyrics by querying generative models of natural language with a short prompt ”I want coffee. Coffee nation, caffeinated”. Then, we used speech synthesis models to sing and read the lyrics with the desired emotions.
