About the TEAM
‘Monomaniac’ project is the result of a collaboration started one year ago. The mix of six completely different backgrounds is the strength of our team. Alice Perona, Ferdinando Fugazza and I are from Italy while Marine Lavergne is french. Randal and Adam are from the USA and Canada. Our name is the philosophy we pursue behind every action. We are excited to experiment and work hard. We live for the passion of working. We are Monomaniacs... and now we know we are not alone. We’d like to promote our project to find all the other maniacs around the world. We want to build an ideal creative space in which we can all expand our artistic boundaries and transform them to make our life always inspiring.
About the SONG
‘Tsunami Stalks Me’ is the first music composition arranged using surrealist techniques provided by AI visuals and AI generated lyrics. The song was inspired by a recurring dream we all have: usually the experience begins with a calm mood and suddenly a huge tsunami wave hits. As dreamers, we run away from water. We identify tsunami as the list of tasks we must complete in our everyday life. The speed and amount of work we are exposed to is causing anxiety. The final sonicscape wants to be a tool to fight this feeling. Our team strongly believes that art has to be something useful for people and society. A tool to inspire and cure the world.
About the HUMAN-AI PROCESS
The process behind ‘Tsunami Stalks Me’ was designed starting from the cores of surrealist techniques: automatism (like doodling for example), bulletism (our brain creates a sense based on what it seen) and collage (we all used this technique when we were kids). Removing conscious decisions from the initial part of the process is the goal of implementing these techniques: we started by generating with AI the first images to get our heads around the artistic direction. Once everyone was on the same page, thanks to the visuals we could start generating lyrics with AI. We could create the first scheme of the song just by using these two items. After curating the selection of the lyrics, we started composing and recording all the instruments.
The visual AI generated images were key to shape the music and the storytelling of all the sound design that has been done. Thanks to the rediscovery of these surrealist techniques we can affirm we opened a new door for composers and producers: this way of crafting songs can be considered a process way more close to writing and composing for films. Having multiple AI collaborators in any step of the process can be hyper inspiring and useful.
